Emphasizing Devastating Impacts Of The TrumpTax For Central New Yorkers, Tax March’sTax Chicken Continues CNY Tour With Stop In Binghamton

BINGHAMTON — Speak Out Central New York’s Trump Tax Chicken and Claudia Tenney* stopped in front of the Broome County Courthouse in Binghamton today. The event was the first stop in Tenney’s district for the Tax Chicken’s ongoing Central New York tour to remind voters that Tenney voted for the TrumpTax, which will punish working families to reward rich corporations and wealthy campaign donors.

“The TrumpTax is built from the ground up to funnel wealth straight out of Central New York working families’ pockets and into the coffers of the already-rich,” said Orion Barber, a student at SUNY Broome. “We know this bill is about rewarding corporations over working people, because that’s already what’s happening – corporations are spending 60 times more on stock buybacks for executives and shareholders than they are on worker raises or bonuses. Tenney is just too chicken to admit that she was working for her rich friends and corporate donors when she voted to pass the TrumpTax, and not the Central New Yorkers she’s supposed to represent.”

Cardboard Claudia Tenney herself joined the Tax Chicken for the stop, adorned in the logos of her wealthy corporate campaign donors like PricewaterhouseCoopers, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, which are expected to rake in billions in tax breaks under the Republican tax scam. Meanwhile, New Yorkers are expected to pay an extra $2.4 billion in taxes in 2019 alone, and 2.4 million New Yorkers won’t receive a tax cut at all.

The TrumpTax also repealed the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act, which even former Trump administration officials have admitted will dramatically increase insurance premiums around the country. As a direct result of the ongoing Republican attempt to undermine health care – helped along by Tenney – the uninsured rate in the country is rising fast, with 4 million people losing coverage just since 2016.

The Tax Chicken will continue touring Tenney’s district for several weeks, reminding Central New Yorkers that she’s too chicken to admit who she was really working for when she voted to give tax breaks to the richest fraction of the country, at the expense of her own constituents.
