Speak Out CNY Statement on IRS Plan to Punish States Attempting to Preserve SALT Deductions
SPEAK OUT CENTRAL NEW YORK RESPONDS TO IRS PLAN TO PUNISH STATES ATTEMPTING TO PRESERVE SALT DEDUCTIONS
Congressman Katko’s And Congresswoman Tenney’s Votes For The TrumpTax Will Drive Up Tax Burdens For Central New Yorkers
SYRACUSE — The IRS announced this week that it will issue rules to punish the handful of specific states that are attempting to preserve residents’ ability to deduct their state and local taxes from their federal tax burden, highlighting once again that the TrumpTax passed in December will unduly punish New Yorkers in order to give massive tax breaks to the rich and big corporations.
Speak Out Central New York released the following statement in response to the IRS announcement:
“This is yet another round of bad news for Central New Yorkers, as a direct result of Claudia Tenney’s and John Katko’s votes to pass the TrumpTax. While the richest 1 percent of the country enjoys more than 80 percent of the benefits of this tax scam, Central New Yorkers will face heightened tax burdens and suffer under this latest partisan attack designed to punish residents of specific states.
“Instead of supporting a bill that gives wealthy corporations a massive tax break on the backs of their own constituents, Tenney and Katko need to finally start working to serve the best interests of their own districts, and not of their campaign donors.”
