NYTimes: Congresswoman Tenney “Shows No Signs of Regret” for Vote to Take Healthcare Away

BINGHAMTON — Congresswoman Claudia Tenney “shows no sign of regret” for her vote last May to repeal the Affordable Care Act and take healthcare away from 23 million Americans, including almost 38,000 of her own constituents, according to a New York Times article released today

“But in an interview last week, Ms. Tenney, a former state assemblywoman who is in her first term, showed no sign of regret.
‘The real issue is, how are we going to make health care affordable again?’ she said.”
Just yesterday, Trump’s own former Health & Human Services Secretary Tom Price admitted that the repeal of the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate – which Tenney happily supported with her vote for the TrumpTax in December – will drive up insurance premiums, proving Tenney’s votes have nothing to do with lowering costs for her constituents.
Tenney also didn’t show concern about healthcare costs last May, when she voted for a bill that would have raised premiums 20 percent, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The same bill would have let insurers charge adults over 50 up to five times more for their health coverage, and let them discriminate against the 290,000 people in Tenney’s district who suffer from pre-existing conditions.
Even though the Republican repeal effort ultimately failed, Tenney is still helping her party sabotage care for millions of Americans through support for measures like the TrumpTax.
